Chasing Sunsets is a book about just that. Mom decides it would be a good idea to get all her kids together and go watch a sunset from the best location she can find. This is going to require a long drive in the car to get there. Now, I am lazy so I would have just told all the kids to look west. However, this mom is a better person than I am so the adventure begins. All the illustrations were colorful, and there were lots of animals, people, and a colorful sky. But let’s not forget the gorgeous sunset. I liked the book very much and it was nice to see someone give God the glory for all things in our world.

Cecilia is about a cat who grew up in Jerusalem. The author made the cats and dogs with very human-like qualities. I just hope that in real life, mommy cats don’t treat their kittens like Cecilia’s mom treated her. Also, I don’t think all dogs are stupid as they were portrayed in this story. In fact, I always see cats running from dogs as fast as they can. Now, I know the author was telling the story of her real cat in a funny and cartoonish way, and I am sure you would enjoy this book. The story tells the journey of Cecilia leaving her mom (ok, not really leaving as much as being forced out) and finding her own human to take care of her. I think you should buy the book and discover for yourself how and if Cecilia finds a human of her own.

Mason’s Monsters tells the story of a little boy named Mason and his monster, leukemia. How is it we live in a time cancer still comes in like Godzilla and takes so much from us? I was born in 1952 and I would have hoped that by now we would have won this battle. How do you read a book like this without your heart breaking? Not just for Mason, but for anyone who has to fight this monster.

It’s a children’s book with a serious message. At the time this book was written, Mason was doing well. It’s still a tough read. Here’s hoping Mason lives a long and healthy life.

It turns out fish are not the only things on the menu. You’ll meet 3 little pigs and a little boy who likes to cry wolf but to the little boy’s surprise, there really is a wolf. As always, the story and the illustrations are great. If you haven’t read any of the books in this series, stop what you’re doing and buy them all now! Parents and children will love them. I for one can’t wait for the next adventure.

Maria Yiangou’s books are always fun to read. I love all the illustrations because they are full of great colors that children love.

In this book, we learn about friendship, forgiveness, and that it’s not fun at all to get forgotten. The little duck is not like other ducks. This duck is rubber. Ernie had a rubber duck, remember that?

What happens to the little duck when he gets forgotten?

What happens when the little duck meets real ducks?

How does the little duck get back home?

You’ll learn all this and more when you read You’re Not A Duck!

I really like the illustrations in this book. They are fun to look at and full of color. The story itself is fun, also, although Mouse seems a little picky. Just kidding! Mouse wants a sweet snack and who wouldn’t? Mouse decides to ask his friends if they have a sweet snack for him.

You’ll meet a Bear, a Bunny, and a Dog who is sad looking and Cat. OK, I thought a mouse and a cat together was a bad idea. However, all went well. You’ll also meet a Bird, a bluebird, and other great animals along the way.

Will little mouse ever find a snack he wants?

Will he finally find true happiness? OK, it does not go that far!

I recommend you buy the book to find the answers to all the questions.

Story by Barbara Lieberman
Illustrations by Jessica Johnson

Here is a cute little story about believing in your dreams.
From the book: “believing in your dreams is one of the most important things you can do”.

This is so true. I sometimes imagine how much more I could have done with my life if I even had a dream I could believe in.
So, the little acorn is all of us. If we could just be like the acorn and start to have dreams and then believe in them, how much more could we do with our lives?

Adults could learn many life lessons from children books. But no, we are to busy living our adult lives and I’m sure many think “no way can I learn something from a book written for a kid”.

Let’s be more like the little acorn and less like adults. I think Jesus talked about this exact thing in the Bible.
